What to Expect at Your Solo Athlete Photo Session
Booking a solo athlete session for your kid? Here is exactly what happens on the day, what to bring, and how to make sure you walk away with photos they will be proud to post.
Individual sessions are one of my favorite things to shoot. Kids show up a little unsure, and an hour later they are hyped, strong and confident. Here is how it all works.

How the session works
Sessions are about an hour long and can include up to 2 kids in the same sport. We meet at a location of your choice, and the field or court you play on becomes the backdrop, unless we plan something different ahead of time.
We shoot a mix of dramatic portraits and action shots. Athletes can do as many poses and looks as they want during the session, and I always encourage their creativity.
What to bring
Uniform and gear. Bring the full uniform, clean and ready, plus the gear that tells their story: ball, bat, racket, cleats or helmet.
A second look. A practice jersey or warm-up gives us variety in the gallery.
Water and a snack. An hour of jumping, posing and sprinting is a workout.
Their personality. Ask your athlete about a pose or celebration they love. Those ideas often become the favorite shots.

Not sure how to pose? That's fine
Some athletes walk in knowing exactly what they want. Others have never been in front of a camera like this. I have been photographing kids and teens for more than 20 years, and helping them relax and have fun is a big part of what I do.
"Can we do one more?"
That's usually what I hear by the end of the hour.
After the session
About ten days after your session, you will receive a link to your private online gallery. You choose your favorite 16 digital photos, fully edited and retouched. Additional images, prints and other items can be added from there.
